Enviromental advantages

HP and other companies all want to jump on the "green-PR-bandwagon". It is a very good move to recycle, but customers should be encouraged by passing the manufacturing savings down the distribution chain.

But I did have some environmental success with HP lately. I bought a Vista laptop, which was such a dog that I asked them if I could load Linux on it. They approved this, saying that my hardware warranty would not be affected. Now it runs very fast for almost 6 hours on a charge and is a joy to use, whereas on Vista it only ran for about 3.5 hours while torturing me. This policy was stated to apply to US and Canada, for dual-boot installations. So go ahead, load a penguin, save the planet!
