I love...

I love it when I see TWIMTBP appear on my screen... Followed by the game running beautifully on my XP machine with the ATI card... Especially as my friend sits there cursing strange artefacts on his Nvidia machine wobbling along in Vista.

Only last weekend I watched as his game desolved into odd bits of wireframe. For a while I wondered if he was trying to recreate one of those "trendy" 1970s coloured string and nail pictures.

And before the fanboyz flame me, yes I do have machines with Nvidia cards... For example I made the mistake of trying out Vista on my media centre PC... So now I have a media centre machine which can't detect it has a TV connected on the scart socket, and the Nvidia site doesn't even list a 7600 Go as an option so I can get new drivers. I have to resort to trying various hacked together ones, and it still won't work. Grrrr!

Nvidia have been busy

So this is what they were developing while ATI were wasting time on DX 10.1.

I play LOTR Online

It runs great under Vista with the DX10 patch. I don't think I get Crossfire support on my 3870x2, but that's how it goes. Guess what? People tell me that it doesn't support their SLI configurations all that well either.

I do wish money would change hands between both ATI and Nvidia and the game publishers. It shouldn't be up to new driver releases to get support.

A friend's playing LOTR Online too, with his 8600gt and it crashes all the time in DX10 mode, while I have no problems.

Marketing is FUD, it's the real world experience that matters.
