In acquisitive mood
BIG FIRM, IBM announced it has acquired storage software outfit Diligent Technologies.
Diligent, a private storage "de-duplication" technology company will become part of IBM System Storage business unit of the IBM Systems and Technology Group.
IBM said acquisition will be an important part of IBM's New Enterprise Data Center model. It reckons organisations are increasingly investing in data de-duplication for e-mail, database and other storage-intensive and mission-critical applications.
This is the third storage related acquisition for IBM in the past few months. In January, the firm bought Israeli-based XIV and earlier this month, it said itintends to acquire FilesX, a provider of continuous data protection software.
Financial terms of this latest deal were not disclosed. µ
