A HOLLYWOOD mole has leaked the latest deal British mobile content aggregator, Player X, has cut with the movie moguls. It's working with Paramount Pictures to put cult classic, Saturday Night Fever onto mobile phones.
The deal is more than just creating a Saturday Night Fever themed game, though. The company will also produce a mini video which it labels a 'Retrosode'.
These are three minute long video clips which have been specially produced to look good on a handset's small screen.
The idea is that putting these Retrosodes onto a mobile operator's portal will help to generate interest in the game. It also provides content for Player X to put on its designed-for-mobile TV channels which it calls Geek TV and Zapper TV.
Retrosodes first made their appearance back in 2006 when Player X cut a deal to turn an episode of Knight Rider into a mobile TV clip.
In addition to Saturday Night Fever, the Paramount deal is expected to cover Top Gun and Zoolander, too.
It's not clear how long handset owners will have to wait before Travolta struts his stuff across the fourth screen. µ
