Panasonic first to split the Intel Atom

Ruggedised thing looks plumb ugly

A REPORT said that Panasonic is likely to be one of the first to use Intel’s Atom chips.

Akihabara News said that Panasonic will make a ruggedised Toughbook version which it is showing off at SnowBIT.

There’s no details of pricing, but Akihabara has some pictures of it.

Don’t expect it to be cheap – Panasonic Toughbook machines generally carry a price premium. And judging from the pictures, the keyboard will be a little bit on the pesky side too and it looks rather unattractive.

It has a touch screen, but the keyboard looks very fiddly. µ

Panasonic is trying to make history

I'm pretty sure they will be on the top 3 of this list:

Keyboard

The split letter layout lets you type with both thumbs a bit easier than if the numbers were off on the right hand side like we are accustomed to on a full size keyboard. Think texting only on your computer.
