Apple buys Beatle love at $400 million

Helps pay for the divorce

POT-HEAD BEATLE Paul McCartney has signed a deal worth $400 million with Apple, which will finally allow the outfit to distribute the entire Beatles' back catalogue on Itunes.

McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon and George Harrison's families, EMI, Sony and Michael Jackson, who all in some way or another claim ownership rights to the Fab Four's hits, will each get their share of the transaction.

Rumours of such a deal actually happening have been floating around for years now, but this time the rumours seem to have some credence to them. The Daily Wail even speculates that McCartney may have been prompted to finally strike the deal in a Faustian move to fund his expensive divorce from Heather Mills.

The Daily Torygraph reckons that albums like Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the White Album and Help, "will be available from iTunes, " and are expected to top the download charts.

Apple hasn't yet confirmed the agreement, but the deal has been something of a holy grail for Apple chief magician, Steve Jobs, for quite some time. It is also not entirely unrelated to the earlier court case between the Beatles' record label "Apple" and Apple inc over the use of their name and logo. The case was finally laid to rest in February of last year. µ

The Beatles Suck! They always have sucked just like that piece of crap Elton John.

AT adds: Please feel free to provide links to some of your songs that are better than those of the Beatles.

re: AT adds...

Front Line Assembly's tunes Millennium, Circuity and Vigilante are all better than the Beatles. Most of Joni Mitchell's tunes are better than the Beatles. Spearhead kicks the Beatle's butt. I could go on.

Beatle's Revolution is not bad, as is much of their hard guitar rock period. Too much of Beatles tunes are either too happy or too silly or too British-historic.

A lot of people these days who say the Beatles are some kind of sacred cow are really just stuck in group think nostalgia.

My $0.02.

This is important

The reason this is important is that the Beatles are probably the single most popular band ever. Their music appeals to a massive range of tastes from punks and metalheads to classical composers and jazz musicians. People old and young like the Beatles and getting this on iTunes is a huge win for Apple, Inc.

Whether you like them or not, and if you don't, trust me, you're in the minority, having this library of incredible music is going to help both the fortunes of Apple, Inc and Apple Records.

Untrue I cry!

This is all lies!
This had been strongly denied by all parties involved!

Who?

I didn't recognize a single band listed by hoohoo, which shows just how forgettable these modern bands are. The Beatles are a classic, and have and will always have a legacy far more reaching than any of these "better" bands.
