Yahoo boss looks fondly at Microsoft
Help! The shareholders are revolting
AS PREDICTED, Yahoo is finding its life without Microsoft very tricky. Shares plummeted by 15 per cent yesterday as shareholders showed their displeasure at the board’s antics in rejecting Volish bids.
Analysts said that the share price could have gone a lot further, but many shareholders do not believe that Microsoft will be back soon.
Yahoo boss Jerry Yang has indicated he is open for more talks with the Vole. Speaking to Reuters, Yang said that he had mixed feelings about the software firm pulling out of talks to buy his company.
He said he was negotiating a way to find common ground and much to his surprise Microsoft walked away from the table. Yang said that Yahoo would still leave a door open for Microsoft to return.
However he might not have a choice. If the share price continues to fall, then it is fairly likely that Microsoft will buy his company. Its own share price increased when it pulled out of the deal making Yahoo more affordable. µ
