Microsoft pokes Facebook

Wanna be in my gang?

SOFTWARE GIANT Microsoft is considering buying the social notworking site Facebook.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the shy and retiring, softly spoken Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has been running around with money burning a hole in his ample pockets after his failed takeover of Yahoo.

Volish bankers have been having a chat with Facebook to see if it would open to a full buy-out.

Vole already has a $US240 million stake in Facebook, which is valued at $US15 billion.

Neither Microsoft nor Facebook have stood up the rumour and founder Mark Zuckerberg, has always resisted flogging it completely. µ

Might have a bit of spare cash in his pocket but paying anything more than 5 billion for facebook would be daft.

I agree, if MS buys, I am pulling my account. I no longer support them. They are an evil company. I also wish to no longer support Comcast, but they are so large where I am that there is no other company to pick.

why not re-invest?

If Microsoft has so much spare cash that they want to get rid of, why not actually invest it into some useful projects such as proper r&d for their software. Clearly they don't have enough staff or they don't spend enough time and money on their own products if they have that much left over. It's not like Windows and Office couldn't use some better programming anyway...

Facebook is pretty much the only social networking site I consider to be worth using. MySpace, Bebo and others are just too messy and full of teenyboppers and emos (although Facebook is slowly getting that way as well). If it was going to be taken over by Microsoft, I think I'd go back to just using Flixster...

Or, why not send some of that money my way? I'd be happy to take it off of their hands...
