Opera 9.5 responds to Iphone 2.0
It's faster, easier and out in beta now
ALTHOUGH IT probably won't admit it, Opera Software has just released a free version of its Mobile 9.5 beta browser that responds to the challenge from Apple's Iphone Safari browser.
To this end, Opera claims that 9.5 beta is faster; far more user-friendly and designed with mobile software developers in mind.
Opera says that it has "completely renovated its mobile UI to make it cleaner and more intuitive. Plus, the new UI is designed for quick and easy navigation."
Funny that. Sounds like the company has responded to competition / criticism from Iphone fanboys.
To be fair, Opera's claim that it has probably offered one of the fastest mobile browser around for some time is quite accurate. So the good news is that users of 9.5 beta will notice improved performance over Opera Mobile 8.65.
The company adds that Dragonfly - its developer tools - has officially gone cross-platform with 9.5. Dragonfly enables developers to debug Javascripts; inspect both Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and the Document Object Model (DOM).
Those who just can't wait to get their hands on 9.5 beta should go here. There are versions for Symbian Series 60 or Windows Mobile devices.

The INQ downloaded the beta to a Nokia E65. It pays to read the download page on a computer first. You also discover that the trial period only last for 30 days. µ

9.5 still only for WinCE
From the article I got the impression that 9.5 beta was for both Symbian and Windows CE/Mobile. It seem this is still not the case. Opera still directs most Symbian users to the old 8.65.Another note: Apparently E51/E71/E90 users should use Opera Mini. That sounds very limiting compared to how strong these phones are.
Has Opera started favoring Windows CE or will we see a change soon? Hopefully they will since I will not get a phone equipped with Windows for Cash-registers(tm)(R).

The provided link only shows a 9.5 beta for WinMo devices, touchscreen only. I don't see a beta for S60, just the stable 8.65 version.No Symbian beta yet?

Tried it on WM6 (TyTN). Now that's different.Good job Opera. The first browser for WM device, which actually can be used for internet browsing. I am impressed.
